The Traffic Information Centre on behalf of both of the public road operators in the Republic of Slovenia (Slovenian Roads Agency - DRSC, which manages several expressways, main and regional roads, and Motorway Company in the Republic of Slovenia – DARS d.d., which manages motorways and four-lane expressways) collects information on the status of public roads and traffic on them and submits it to public media and users of the national road network. The organisation of providing information on the status of public roads and traffic is the duty of the above-mentioned public road operators according to the Public Roads Act (Official Gazette of the RS, Nos. 29/97, 18/02, 50/02-Ruling of the Constitutional Court, 110-02-ZGO-1, 126/03-ZDARS-A and 92/05; ZJC).
On 15 February 2006, the Minister of Transport issued a mandatory instruction determining the manner of cooperation between both operators in terms of implementing the organisation of providing information on the status of public roads and traffic on them by requesting that both operators, Slovenian Roads Agency and DARS d.d., in the shortest time possible within their jurisdictions, define and implement all the activities required for the collection of all available data from both public road operators on the status of these roads and traffic in one location, in order to provide a coordinated and comprehensive service for informing the public on the status of public roads and traffic on them through public media and other media currently available to individual operators in order to ensure that information available in one location is published in the manner most economical for the state. Simultaneously, the Minister of Transport ordered both operators of the public road network, Slovenian Roads Agency and DARS d.d., to conclude a written agreement on the joint and uniform provision of information for the public on the status of all public roads and traffic on them.
