Austria – Complete closure of the A10 motorway towards Salzburg due to Brentenberg Tunnel renovation, open May 22, 2026

May 18 - 23

New May 22. 5.: A10 motorway towards Salzburg at Brentenberg Tunnel, open.

According to ASFINAG, the Austrian motorway operator, a complete closure of the A10 motorway towards Salzburg is planned due to renovation of the Brentenberg Tunnel. A detour will be in place between the Pongau junction and Pass Lueg from May 18 to May 23, 2026.

Salzburg (OTS) – To meet the demanding renovation schedule for the Brentenberg Tunnel, which was severely damaged in a truck accident in January, a complete closure of the A10 Tauern motorway towards Salzburg is unavoidable. This closure is planned from Monday, May 18 (1:00 PM) until no later than Saturday, May 23 (6:00 AM). At the same time, a driving ban will apply for trucks over 7.5 tons.

All traffic will be diverted during this period between the Pongau junction and Pass Lueg via the B159. Since the ongoing construction work on the B159 does not extend into this detour area, no additional disruptions are expected there. Repairs of the extensive fire damage are expected to be completed by the end of June, after which the tunnel will be passable without restrictions.
